Yesterday was the Fun Day & BBQ for the Golspie, Brora, and Helmsdale churches. It was also good to have visitors from as far away as Inverness, Morayshire, Central Belt and Australia. The weather held allowing everyone to stay outdoors in the sun. The usual bouncy castle, trampoline, and other games were well used. In all it was a very enjoyable day with a laid back atmosphere.

Golspie playgroup and Golspie Beavers have both paid a visit to Golspie Free Church in the past two weeks. The minister, Eric Paterson, showed the youngsters and their leaders around the 160 year old church and hall and explained a little about his work and what was involved in a church service.

Yesterday the Free Church of Scotland and St Andrews Church of Scotland joined together for their evening service. It took the form of a 'songs of praise' at the St Andrews Church and was very well attended. Many different hymns and psalms were requested and quite a few had an Easter feel to them. There were also prayers, a bible reading, and a short talk about the resurrection to complete the format of the service.
In all it was a most enjoyable evening and hopefully will be repeated again at a future date.
The morning service will be at 11.30am and there will be a soup and roll lunch afterwards. The venue will be the Free Church, Church Street, Golspie.
In the Evening there will be a joint service with St Andrews Church of Scotland - 7.00pm - and will take the form of a 'songs of praise' evening. The venue for this meeting will be at St Andrews Church, Golspie.

A G M 2008
The annual congregational meeting was held last night and included the usual reports of the church activities throughout last year. The financial report was also given.
The main part of the evening however was listening to, and participating in, a presentation by Mr Andrew McNair (Covell Mathews) with regards to our church buildings and how we regard them.
The reason for this discussion is the knowledge that work will soon have to be done on the floor of the building to deal with woodworm. Because of this the question is asked, 'would it be worthwhile looking at the layout or our buildings and seeing if they could be still further improved upon to help meet the needs of present day living?
Thanks go to Mr McNair for his help in this process.
Today is parent/carer toddler lunch day. Come along for a soup lunch between 12.00 noon and 1pm and also relax as the kiddos learn to sing well known choruses and nursery rhymes. The soup lunch is currently held on the last Tuesday of each month but hopefully that will be added to in time. Venue is Free Church Hall in Church Street. Can't miss the red door.
The youth fellowship (YF) had a games night last Friday. The usual playstation 2's and 3's featured throughout the evening. There was also the customary pizza and other snacks.
YF usually meets on a Sunday evening and is for anyone who is of Secondary school age. There are currently people from Brora and Golspie coming along but it is also open to those from other vilages. For further information contact-'e.paterson: golspiefc at gmail.com'.
I would just like to wish all in Golspie a happy and good new year for 2008. May we know the blessing of God upon our lives and may Jesus Christ become ever more precious to us.
