Recycle and Rummage Sale - Saturday 30th August
Saturday's 'Recycle and Rummage' sale raised £163 which will go toward the purchase of new tables for the church hall.
Sunday's Subject Matter - 24th August Onwards
After a summer break, the preaching on Sunday morning will continue with a series of thoughts on the 'Gospels'. This will look at the life of Jesus, chronologically, from the viewpoint of all Gospel writers.
The preaching on Sunday Evening will also continue a series of one sermon outlines on each book in the Old Testament. This new set of sermons begins with the Book of Ecclesiastes. (Occasionally a book will receive more than one sermon EG Psalms, Job, and also Ecclesiastes)
'Sunday School' - Sunday 24th August.
The Sunday School began again after the summer break. There were 16 young folk, ranging in age from 3yrs to 14yrs. This was a little less than last year although on the plus side there were one or two new faces. There are currently 5 Sunday School teachers.
SOS - 'Sunday Open-Day School' - Monday 18th August.
The Sunday Open-day School is an event held annually (the day before school goes back) which allows the young folks from Golspie to take part in a full programme of games, bible reading,singing, drama, script writing, and other activeties . This year 18 young people took part and in the evening were able to put on a 'musical show' about Noah and his Ark for family and friends.
Rev John MacKay - Africa Inland Mission. Wednesday 13th August.
The Rev John MacKay, Scottish Secretary for Africa Inland Mission and no stranger to these parts, was visiting East Sutherland for a deputation meeting. He spoke for a brief time about his role within AIM and then showed computer generated slides of a recent visit to both Uganda and Kenya. There was a very good turnout of people from neighbouring churches in the area and most were able to remain for the cup of tea afterwards.
Golspie Gala Week Songs of Praise - Sunday 3rd August
The venue for this years 'Songs of Praise' service was the new Golspie Gala Week Marquee. There was a great ammount of support for this years service with an excellent turnout. (more seats were required). Also taking part in the songs of praise was Johnny Bremner who sang a number of different spiritual songs
