The following has been extracted from a report describing the visit of Lord Mackay and Mr George Reid (MSP) to the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland 2006)"Lord Mackay then visited the Assembly and gave us a short address reminding us of the importance of the spiritual.
At the beginning of the afternoon session the Assembly was addressed by the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, Mr George Reid (MSP). He spoke on the role of faith in Scottish society. (This was erudite, learned, stimulating and a great credit to Mr Reid – if he is representative of the SNP then I am voting nationalist next time!)."
