"...turning back to God instead of leaving him out of my life."
Gods great purpose for his people is that they produce 'fruit to him.'(fruitfulness). Here is a small list of what could be described as fruit:
MMBC
MMBC stands for Monumental Mountain Bike Club. The club website can be found through the following link <<here>>
Checked out with our church precentor how many tunes from the 'Sing Psalms' version that have been learned over the past 6 years (ie belonging to the Sing Psalms version alone). The answer given was 68. Full credit to those who stay behind after the evening meeting to learn them. Full credit also to those who gave the time and energy into puting the Sing Psalms version together. "refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach"(1974)
Fulfillment is next on the list, but what is that? I would put it this way. It is 'fullness' instead of 'emptiness' and 'LIFE' instead of 'death'. Jesus Christ said he came into this world to give life and to give it more abundantly.
Pepsi max tells us to 'live life to the max'. Heineken's slogan was, "Refreshes the parts other beers cannot reach" and Coca Cola speaks about 'the real thing'. Now whereas there may be something in what the adverts say(?) it certainly isn't lasting, but Jesus Christ has come into this world to enable us to live life to the max and to be truly satisfied and to experience the real thing. Only Jesus Christ is able to take away that void deep within each one of us. He is the 'water of life' who will never leave us thirsty.
Over the last few years a good number of dedicated people have remained behind after the Sunday evening meeting to learn many of the new tunes which go along with 'Sing Psalms'. (fortnightly from Dec to June)"...what I would expect to find in church is fellowship. But what is that?"
One of the next things I would expect to find in church is what is known as fellowship. But what is that?
The best illustration I can think of is that of a football team that has it together and is working hard for each other. You know, good team spirit right throughout the club.
The comradeship in the church centers around Jesus Christ and peoples loyalty to him, not only in their heads but hearts as well. This should show itself on the field of play with the people working together for the good of his (Jesus) cause.
(next week - fulfillment)
"I would expect to see that fulfilled, with the people of the church having it as their goal..."
What do you expect to find in church? The first thing that I would expect to find is people who have faith!
That means they 'believe in' someone (Jesus Christ) and that he has their full condidence The result of this is that they are then ready to follow his lead.
The other part of faith which I would expect to see in church is the faithfulness of God. He made a promise that he would build his church. I would expect to see that fulfilled and the people of the church having it as their goal and working for it.
